The 2004 Arthur T. Berlingo Summer Challenge
GUIDELINES 1.
The official
start of the tennis league is the week of June 14th and proceeds through the
week of August 29th, a total of 12 weeks. Make-up matches and
additional matches may be played during September, if desired. 2.
Please review
the schedules. Based on the events you entered, you will need to play one or
more matches per week according to the schedule. 3.
Contact the
player or team you are scheduled to play and arrange where and when you will
play your match. Phone numbers are provided on the schedule. Playing a match
prior to or after the scheduled week is allowed. 4.
There is no longer a requirement to play a minimum
number of matches in order to win your division. However, please remember
that the success of the Summer
Challenge depends on your active participation. 5.
Best two out
of three sets determines the winner of each match. 6.
Each player
or team should bring new balls; the winners take the unopened can. 7.
Scores should be reported immediately following
each match. Either
the winner or loser should report the scores to the league captain. Each league captain should report the league’s
scores on a weekly basis via e-mail to wendy_l_fong@sbcglobal.net or by phone to Wendy Fong
at 426-3005. Scores will be posted on the NTA website, www.ntaweb.com on a
regular basis as will the playing schedule. 8.
Gil Fong Award: At the end of September, the player or team
that has won the most matches in their division is the champion. In case of a
tie, the percentage of sets won will be used.The player or team that plays
the most matches in their division will compete for the Gil Fong Award by
having their name placed in a drawing for “Dinner for Two” at The Villa
Restaurant, 9. Awards will be made at the Annual General
Meeting/Tennis party in October. *** |
